Spectroscopic structure determination — MS, IR, ¹H NMR as puzzle-solving

Given a molecular formula and three graphs, deduce the structure. Individually each technique is a lookup exercise against the data booklet (IR wavenumber ranges, NMR chemical shift ranges). The difficulty is integration: the reasoning is abductive — you generate candidate structures and test them against all the evidence at once. NMR splitting (the n+1 rule) and integration ratios add a combinatorial layer. Students who treat it as recall rather than as puzzle-solving stall.
